Who is responsible for your data

Brighton Learning House Ltd – which consists currently of Sean Williams, Una Nicholson, Sarah Hill and Laura Swettenham.

With permission, we collect personal information that can be used to identify you individually, such as your name, mailing address, phone number, and email address. This is collected and processed under the lawful basis of consent.

Through our website we collect information such as the IP addresses from which the site has been accessed and the different countries in which our website visitors are based. Our website provider also collects information about the type of internet browser and operating system you are using, whether a search engine was used to find us and which of our web pages you have accessed. We cannot identify you through the information we receive. 

How and when we collect this information

We collect personal information from you when you provide it to us, such as if you ask to go on our mailing list or complete a contact form on our website. We may collect your name(s), telephone number, and email address. If you register for a course we may collect your name, mailing address, email address, and other information relevant to the course that is requested as part of the registration process, such as dietary requirements.

If you communicate with us regarding our website or our services, we will collect any information that you provide to us in any such communication.

IP addresses and website usage information is collected whenever anyone uses our website via our website provider, and communicated to us through their website analytics function. 

How your information is used

Your data is used to ensure that you are sent the information that you have asked for that is relevant to what you have shown interest in and/or you are provided with the support that you have said you would like.

Your data will be used to manage future communications between us. If you consent to joining our mailing list we will send information about any courses or services that we may be offering, as well as relevant information, ideas and news associated with our work. The current frequency of our emails is occasional, and may increase in the future. With every email you receive you have the option to unsubscribe from receiving any further emails, updating your personal preferences and personal details. You can opt out from receiving such communications services at any time by emailing us

We use personal information primarily for our own internal purposes, such as providing, maintaining, evaluating, and improving our services and website, fulfilling requests for information, and providing support.

How your data is stored and protected

We use a number of secure online systems to store and process data, all of which have their own privacy policies:

Dropbox, MailChimp, SquarespaceGoogle Mail/Drive/Calendar and Trello

These systems are all password protected, changed regularly and only available to the employees of Brighton Learning House.

We will take precautions within our means to prevent the loss, alteration or misuse of your data. You acknowledge that we are unable to guarantee the security of information transmitted over the internet, which is inherently insecure. 

Your mailing list data will be stored until either you unsubscribe and request deletion, or we desist from sending emails at which point we would delete all personal data that we hold.

We use cookies

A cookie is a small piece of data that is sent to your internet browser from a web server and stored on your computer’s hard drive. They are used by our website provider as part of their product. Cookies are used in the running of the site, to provide you with a customised experience and to collect analytics data. When you visit our site you will be asked to consent to the use of cookies.
